7 signs your website is costing you customers (and when to renew it)
· 6 min read · PX Digital Studio
A website doesn't break overnight: it falls behind. Customers don't complain; they simply leave for whoever offers a better experience. These are the clearest signs your site is no longer working for you.
1. It takes more than 3 seconds to load on mobile
According to Google, the probability of a visitor leaving rises 32% when load time goes from 1 to 3 seconds, and 90% at 5. Measure your site free on PageSpeed Insights; a mobile score below 50 means you're losing customers who had already found you.
2. The browser shows “Not secure”
Without HTTPS, browsers warn your customers before they enter. It's the first thing they see, and enough to lose their trust.
3. You have to zoom on a phone
Most visits come from phones. Tiny text, unresponsive buttons or a broken menu lose the visit even when your product is right.
4. It doesn't show up on Google, not even by name
Without titles, descriptions, a sitemap and structured data, a site is nearly invisible to search engines and AI assistants.
5. Updating a price is a hassle
If every change depends on someone who no longer answers, your site ends up showing old information, and old information breeds distrust.
6. You pay monthly for features you don't use
Templates, plugins and plans pile up over the years. Sometimes the yearly cost of keeping a slow site exceeds the cost of renewing it.
7. Your business changed and your website didn't
New products, new services, a new image. If your site still presents the business of five years ago, customers meet a version that no longer exists.
Renew or start over?
Renewing keeps what's valuable: your domain, your content and your Google rankings. The key is keeping the same addresses or redirecting them, so search engines and customers land on the right page.
